About us
Youth For Better Nepal
Youth for Better Nepal (YBN) is a charitable foundation lead by
young Nepalese professionals and entrepreneurs on a fully voluntary basis. We are a non-profit, non-governmental
organization affiliated to the Social Welfare Council and are pursuant to
section 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992.
Overall Goals:
The aim of the foundation is to uplift
the life standard of poor and marginalized groups by providing financial and
non-financial support. We believe in proving our strength by carrying out the
work that is much needed in remote parts of Nepal. To implement our ideas into
action, it became a necessity for us to set up this foundation and to cater for
the well-being of young people.
Remoteness is often used to describe
the geographical difficulty, but we see remoteness in people’s difficulty in
accessing basic needs of education and health. We aim to step in to help such
communities to have access to education, healthcare and technology.
History:
Our motivation came from our own past
programs and the successful completion of our first project “Digital Literacy Project (IT lab and e-
library)” in various schools of Rukum district. Our first project
highlighted the importance of digital technology in schools. The net enrolment
of students increased significantly as parents and students saw the positive impact
of computer lab in the school.
As a result, all of Rukum district has
been influenced by our initiative. Subsequently, other schools have set up
computer labs with access to digital library. Many that lack resources have
requested District Education Office to help them set up such facilities. Thus,
our commitment to work as a team in collaboration with the marginalized
communities has driven us to establish YBN this year, 2073 B.S. (2017 A.D.). We
feel inspired and motivated to carry humanitarian works, such as our past
projects, within a formal framework of Youth for Better Nepal. We are committed
to our projects and feel privileged to be able to help our communities.
