Youth for Better Nepal ( a non-profit
organization affiliated to the Social Welfare Council, Nepal and pursuant
to section 13 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992.) puts forward the proposition to provide a total of 50 Solar
Panels to the villagers of Chuga village in Mugu district.
Mugu is one of the most remote and undeveloped districts of
mid-western Nepal. Most of Mugu is ragged lands, craggy hills and mountains. A
hint of modern development can be seen in Gamagadhi: the district headquarters
which was recently touched by the only road in the district. Southern Mugu is
relatively green and has arable soil, but like most parts of the Mugu, nothing
grows in the Himalayas. Known for Rara Lake -the largest lake of the country- most of Mugu has
abundant natural beauties. However, the human socio-economic condition of this
district is the worst among others. Many villages lack health care centers and
schools. Sick people being carried in dokos are a common sight in villages.
Little children walk hours to reach school. And the household spend all day in
the field, carrying out all of the work manually even though the world has
leaped bounds in agricultural technology.
The targeted area of our project is Pina-04, Chuga, which
takes about four hours to reach by foot from Gamgadhi. There are about 500
people in this village dominated by Dalits: a marginalized community due to the
so-called category of low-castes. People in this area do not have the energy or
resources for high expectations and goals in their life. They are simply
struggling to make their ends meet. They do not have any income sources and
from an early age young children are expected by their families to help in
domestic works. As an alternative, youth are compelled to do odd jobs in India.
This trend has left villages with only the elderly and children.
Being an independent organization, the only source of income
for these projects are our supporters and well wishers, who also care for the
well-being of the general people. Hence, we would be extremely grateful if you
provided us with any financial or technical help possible, for the charitable
activities we intend to conduct.
Feel free to contact us for further details.
